If you dial back the clocks and look at some of the very early Drift King DVDs out of Nihon like the Drift Bible for instance, you can see some incredible, edge of the limits of grip, four-wheel drifting. Angle is sacrificed for speed, which is much, much higher. Now this is nothing new, Jack Brabham et al were four-wheel drifting formula 1 cars around the Nurburgring in the 60's, with about as much safety and technology as your $5 billy cart had when you were 10 - but they were rolling at 150mph.
